The Velvets are a gathering of UK based musicians/fans of

The Velvet Underground. Four talented multi-instrumentalists

coming together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the groups’

first album release ‘The Velvet Underground and Nico’.

The two hour show sees THE VELVETS performing classic songs

from 1967-1970. Through the pop splendour of ‘Sunday Morning’

and ‘Femme Fatale,’ to the darker decadence of ‘Heroin’ and

‘Venus In Furs’, the band create from a palette of VU sounds, yet

add their own, unique lustre finish. NOT a tribute show but more

a celebration of The Velvet Underground.

Vocalist and guitarist, Steve Daggett said “We are looking forward

to performing these great songs on the Academy Tour 2017. Particularly the gig at NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, o2 ACADEMY 2 on

the 9th September, our 'hometown' show.

WHO ARE THEY?

Steve Daggett: (Lead vocals, guitar, piano and drums)

A journey-man, musician and record producer.  Steve has toured

the major UK festivals and concert halls with legendary Rock/Folk band, LINDISFARNE.  A published singer-songwriter and solo performer in his own right, he has released four solo albums.

Ema Lea: (Lead vocals, drums, organ, guitar)

Ema is a multi-instrumentalist and has worked extensively as a musician, producer and director in the film, video and creative art industries.  She too is a singer-songwriter and her first solo album

is anticipated for spring 2018.

Bad Bob Bates: (Vocals, guitars, guitars, guitars)

Bad Bob is a respected, guitarist on the northern R&B/blues/rock circuit and has several solo albums to his credit. He is also a guitar Luthier, who specialises in custom built guitars and unique, artfully etched scratch-plates.

Willie Angus: 

(Vocals, Bass, Piano, Organ, Guitar)

Willie is a much regarded and sought after session man and bass guitarist for hire.  A music graduate, who has worked within the Jazz/rock/fusion scene and frequently toured Europe.

Chris is a multi-instrumentalist (and also an internationally renowned violin maker!) Chris guests with The Velvets at various shows
